My maintenance release said that it's time do carry out a periodic inspection, BEECH AD43.
This involves inspecting the inside of the flaps for corrosion.
Speaking to Glen on the phone, the size of the job would depend. If there were already inspection holes cut into the flaps, then it would simply be a case of opening them up to have a look. If not, then it was a big job, possibly even taking the entire flap off and unriveting it to open it up! I hoped I had the inspection holes.
Luckily, I did. The inspection was done within a day, and a few other odds and ends such as pumping up my tyres, and replacing a few cowl screws. Haven't got the bill yet, but shouldn't be too bad.
Went to Rottnest with Dan and his brother, Denis. It's the first time we've had three people in the aircraft.
Definitely could feel the extra weight on takeoff, but still managed to climb at around 4-500 feet per minute. I was watching that speed pretty closely on climb-out, but we climbed fine.
Reports are that there's enough room in the back, it's quite comfortable. Unfortunately, there's no intercom in the back, so the person back there gets all the engine noise, and is left out of any conversation.
But it's good to know that we can take three adults. This means we could comfortably take two adults and two little kids in the future.
